Dear First Year Student,
"Forever
Christ" - This is the meaning of our name and the purpose of our
sorority. As the youngest sorority on Nebraska Wesleyan University's campus,
the cornerstone of Omega Chi Rho is Jesus Christ. Our purpose is to build
lasting friendships within the sorority and share with NWU and the surrounding
community who Christ is to us and why we believe in Him as our Savior.
We do not follow a certain denomination, but are more interested in unity
and fellowship as a sorority in Jesus Christ.
Omega Chi Rho sorority was officially approved
for colonization on November 27, 2000. The biggest challenge our founding
members have had thus far is coming up with all of the details and processes
involved in beginning a new sorority. It has been a lot of work but the
rewards have been incredible. The current group of women has grown very
close through our experiences in building this sorority together with
God.
We are excited to be recruiting our second
class in the spring of 2002. Because we are in the colonization stage
and still growing as an organization we do not recruit in the fall, but
wait until the spring semester.
Our activities include both spring and winter
formals, a Valentine's Day Dessert for women, and philanthropy opportunities
at a Lincoln nursing home. We have many exciting ideas for future activities
as well!
One of the biggest answered prayers of this
semester is the opportunity we have been given to rent a house for the
sorority. It can house up to 11 members and will provide us with a place
for meetings and get-togethers. It is incredible to look back and see
what God has done for us so far and exciting to look forward to what He
will do in the future!
Sincerely,
Kristin Harger
