MR. BAUER'S HOMEPAGE!!!

Welcome to the wonderful world of science!  My name is Doug Bauer and I am a senior transfer student attending Nebraska Wesleyan University.  I am currently seeking a major in Biology as well as a major in Natural Science with a teaching endorsement in secondary science education.  I have created this website for my Instructional Technology course; Education 187.  I am planning to student teach during the fall of 2009.

I have high hopes of learning many new techniques in technology that I can incorporate in the future.  Education 187 should increase my repertoire of tools that will help me to involve every student to learn all disciplines of science.  My webpage will include a sample PowerPoint which I have created, a Webquest that can be used in the classroom, and a newsletter.  These are all methods in technology that I can use to help students learn.  These teaching methods range from teacher centered to student centered learning.

The Webquest that I created is a lesson over the structure of organisms in nature, starting with an organism and going up through an ecosystem.  Students will be required to cooperate with group members and classify the organisms of an ecosystem.  They will be required to identify all of the components, including all abiotic and biotic features needed to sustain the ecosystem.  Asking questions after the project, and using the scientific method to solve these questions will foster further complex thinking.
