¡Bienvenidos!

Welcome to my webpage! My name is Krista Barger and I am a senior at Nebraska Wesleyan University - I am pursuing my Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish with a secondary education endorsement. I have just returned from studying a semester abroad in Pamplona, Spain, and I am hoping this unique experience will help me develop cultural lessons in which students will be able to broaden their perspectives and appreciate learning another language. I plan to student teach in the Spring of 2009.

This website was created for Education 187, Instruction Technology, and I am looking forward to learning about different methods in which I can apply technology to enhance my classes. Using technology will help me incorporate a variety of sources, images, and ideas that can help push my students to expand their knowledge. This website includes my personal work in class and consists of a PowerPoint presentation of Antoni Gaudí, my Webquest, a newsletter and a Capstone project.

My Webquest lesson is for a high school Spanish lesson that emphasizes cultural perspectives. Through this lesson, I hope to encourage students to travel to other countries and broaden their minds to different interpretations of the world. Through researching a specific Spanish-speaking country, students will present to their class the traditions, foods, festivals etc. of their country. In keeping a journal of their “travels”, students will need to take on ideas of the country and think in a way that they might not normally have to think. This class should result in new methods of reflection, appreciation for other countries, and new appreciation for different cultures.
