Welcome to my home page! My name is Mary Guinan and I am currently a junior at Nebraska Wesleyan University pursuing a BA in History, a Secondary Education endorsement, and a minor in Political Science. I plan to teach history and/or government at the secondary level.

I created this website for my Education 187: Instructional Technology class. This page is intended for upper level high school students in a U.S. history class. On this website are various projects that I have completed in the course of this class such as PowerPoint, Webquest, Newsletter, and iMovie. This class and the projects I completed for it have provided me with a background knowledge that will prove beneficial when I begin teaching.

My WebQuest lesson is designed as a final project for a secondary level U.S. history class. Students will choose a historical figure that they believe has had a significant impact on U.S. history. They will research the life of this figure, focusing on their economic, political, and social influences on history. When they present their findings to their peers, students will be exposed to a wide range of influential people who have impacted our country’s history. The purpose of this lesson is to help students understand the extent to which individuals can influence their environment and subsequently influence history. Hopefully, students will be able to see what made these people so influential to their own time and to history. This may help students realize that it is possible for individuals to provoke change and thus realize that it is possible for them to make a difference.
